Mary Russell was born in 1947 outside Chicago.  A member of the Pastel Society of America and Oil Painters of America, she trained in the tradition of the Old Masters and has been featured in American Artist and Southwest Art magazines.

Russell currently lives and works in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
